Eye of the Beholder - Chapter 3
Greta stared out of the window, wondering if this would be for the last time. As often as Chris assured her that all precautions where taken, as often as the nurses and doctors explained the procedure, it never eased her mind. The entire operation was new and so many problems could crop up at so many different times. She was to be injected with nanites designed to stop the bleeding at the incision point, greatly mitigating blood loss. But what if the nanites didn't clot like they were supposed to? Or what if they clotted at the wrong point? The nanites would also greatly reduce the body's rejection of the prosthetics, repairing damaged cells as needed and keeping infections at bay. But what if the nanites overworked, acting more like a type of cancer, or they failed to remove viruses or bacteria while her body was at its weakest? Much of the actual operation was to be done by a machine for its precision, with the doctor and nurses present as observers and stand-bys should

"Sign here ... and here ... and initial here ... and date here ..." Angela Well flipped page after page, pointing out lines that needed be filled, and Greta dutifully filled each in, adding what was needed in a neat hand writing. "Ok! That's it!" Angela smiled as she took up the thick stack of papers and settled them into a manilla envelope. "That's it?" Greta rubbed at her hand, massaging it carefully. "That's it! I just need to take this to our legal clerk." Angela paused and leaned forwards. "But ... I've gotta ask. Why? I've read over the legal documents and ... this is pretty life changing. Why?" Greta blushed and seemed to shrink back into her chair a little. "I don't know, exactly. I guess to change myself ... hoping this will help me better myself in some way." Angela held the gaze for a moment before letting out soft sigh and pushing her glasses up the bridge of her nose with an index finger. "No pressure, Mrs. Thomas. I was just curious. Anyway. I do wish

I've been on Deviant Art for quite some time and have amassed quite the collection of Deviant Favorites. And while sorting through and organizing those entries, I made quite a disconcerting discovery, particularly for one who followed the ways of the OCD. If the poster of one of your favorites archives the favorite, you lose access to that entry, but it still counts towards your total favorites. You can't move it. You can't remove it. You can't view it. Let's just face it. You just can't Torquemada anything! With that revelation, I've elected to remove many of my favorites (but keeping the artist in my Follower list), and instead, either bookmarking the favorite in my browser or downloading the favorite and archiving it on my PC. I've tried twice communicating with DA about this, with the second time actually getting a response. And while I AM correct in my assumption that the invisible favorites ARE ones archived, sadly, they have no way of removing those archived favorites

The Eye of the Beholder - Chapter 1
Greta gave a soft grumbled moan as she rested her face against her palms. She worked a thankless job as the receptionist for CyberSollutions Personnel and had just directed the call for what seemed like the tenth rude executive in a row that day. And other than the few friends she had made in the company by chance, her only company throughout the days were the guests who stopped to ask for directions to various points in the building and the silent, motionless, and encased examples of what the company manufactured; life like automatons. "Wow. Rough day already, Gret? It's not even noon yet." Greta looked up to find one of the few friends she had made at the company. "Hey, Chris. Yeah. Something major is going on and every executive associated is calling up with a stick up their asses. And it feels like I'm the one that either has to pull it out or push them to the one who can." Chris pursed his lips in thought before nodding and sighing. "Yeah. I'm getting that from my boss

RACES Fae The Fae are creatures who hail from a sister reality to our own known as the Other. They are creatures that represent nature, chance, and decadence. While not creatures of chaos, they are not of law, either, deciding to blaze their own trail through life. High Elf The High Elves, both Light and Dark, embody all that is beautiful and artistic, and like many tortured artists, they are fickle creatures. Those with High Elf ancestry tend to be more beautiful or have greater charisma than those around them, but also tend to be a bit more moody and flighty. JOBS Rolling on a job attempt entails the DM choosing how difficult the job should be. A good start should be easy, such as picking a target roll of, say 3 to 5 on a D20. The higher up a line of reasoning becomes, the higher the target rolls should be, as fine tuning the information becomes more difficult due to how specialized the desired outcome should be. As the JOB levels up, more bonuses are applied to the end roll, reflecting how experienced the JOB bearer is. (Example : David, the INVENTOR, is wanting to build a Flux Capacitor. The prototype is crude is mainly intended as a proof of concept. The INVENTOR needs to roll a 7 on a D20 and David rolls a 5. However, David has leveled up being an INVENTOR once and can apply a +1 to his roll, making his result a 6.) The more advanced the target result becomes, the harder it should be to obtain the desired roll, but the end result should reflect how difficult the end product should be compared to its starting off

Chapter 1 : Grand Opening
The sun was spreading its warmth and light across the beach and boardwalk. Beach goers, both local and tourists, moved about enjoying the day. Veronica and Vivian made their way through the crowd towards the concession stands to pick up a quick bite before hitting the waters and the sand. Vivian, her pixie style red hair contrasted against her Lettuce green bikini and making her stand out. She ignored the looks put her way as she began ordering her hot dog from the vendor.
